The main character is a translator, and she's being paid "a small fortune" to translate an ad copy for an exclusive perfume brand.

As the book I'm reading is a translation from French, I can only wonder what the Norwegian translator thought as she worked on that particular scene. :p :p

It's a bit... IDEK. But I want to share it, at any rate. As the header says, ALL the trigger warnings when it comes to disordered eating and thinking. Anyway, it helped me to write this, and I thought it might help other people to read it. So:

To Think it, Wish it, Even Want it (1203 words) by faviconKahvi
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Sherlock (TV) RPF, British Actor RPF
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Benedict Cumberbatch/Martin Freeman
Characters: Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman

The difficulty of maintaining a healthy body image when your body is constantly critiqued and on display - OR - How to eat cake. Trigger warnings all over the place; a bit self-indulgent. Cumberbatch/Freeman, if you squint.

A bit of that

Dear Yuletide Writer

Oh, writer - it's Yuletide! It's it fantastic? I hope you're having as much fun as I am! Thank you so much for taking part and for taking the extra time to read this letter.

As I myself am the type of writer who prefers highly detailed prompts and lots of info, that's what I've tried to give here. If you're not, remember that optional details are optional, and feel free to ignore this entire post! The best thing you could possibly give me is a good story, and those come from love and inspiration. So go do what you love, and have a wonderful Yuletide! :D

Stuff I like: I'm a die-hard romantic. I am also a happy-ending junkie. Angst is fine, as is hurt comfort, so long as there actually is comfort in the end. I love little clever details and interesting twists. I believe humor is a very important part of any story, regardless of genre. I like things that are funny or even silly while still being realistic and internally consistent. Intelligence is sexy.

Stuff I DON'T like: I can find body image issues or eating disorders triggery. Torture, particularly disfiguring, or deeply psychological torture makes me really uncomfortable, so I would rather not read about that either.

In general: I enjoy reading about graphic sex, and very few things about it squicks me (except bodily fluids that aren't sexual fluids - none of that, please). Any kink, even explicit kink, is fine, though it's not generally something I seek out in a story. I'm easy. Don't be afraid to include stuff I haven't specifically mentioned here, or in my request. Yuletide stories are a gift, and I accept them joyfully! :D

Oh lol - I haven't been writing for a while, and I just dug out my Cabin Pressure WIP... and discovered the following passage:

Mr. Smith frowned, adjusting his glasses. His height was not the only thing that differed from Martin's mental image of him; in fact, he looked nothing at all like a sassy LGBT blogger. His glasses, though designer and wireframed, were not overstated. His hair was cropped so short as to be barely there, highlighting his evident male-pattern baldness in a way that was almost flattering. Martin, whose full head of ridiculously curly hair looked 'managable' at best, felt an irrational stab of jealousy.

If I get around to posting this thing, I want to put up a fucking disclaimer that this wasn't some sort of statement.

Vacation times!

Gawd, I have so much to update about. I didn't mean to abandon this journal, it's just a matter of effort, really; I have tried to write stories in the time I have had for writing. And I've been able to keep up with Twitter et al because of apps. Well, now I have this app. :)

More later, I will try, but for now; I have a job, I write, run and travel, and I am happy.

How you?
